Vanda Pharmaceuticals is pivoting its commercial strategy toward a $750 million revenue target for its psychiatry franchise by 2030. This goal is anchored by the rollout of two new products and a shift toward sports-focused advertising.
The company has expanded its commercial portfolio from three to five products following the late 2025 approval of NEREUS and the February 2026 approval of BYSANTI. The $750 million revenue ambition depends on the successful execution of its BYSANTI switch strategy, potential label expansions for major depressive disorder (MDD), and the planned introduction of long-acting injectable formulations.
"The response rates on sports programming were dramatically better than anywhere else," said Kevin Moran, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Vanda Pharmaceuticals, at the Cantor conference. "We saw a significantly higher return on sports advertising than you might see on other programming."
Portfolio Expansion and Clinical Timelines
Vanda's current trajectory relies on its ability to scale its diversified portfolio. NEREUS, which received regulatory approval in late 2025, officially launched in May 2026. This addition, alongside BYSANTI, represents a strategic attempt to capture market share in the psychiatric space.
The company faces headwinds in its clinical development pipeline. The Phase III study evaluating BYSANTI for the treatment of MDD has been delayed until the first half of 2027. According to a conference transcript, this adjustment stems from recruitment progress that has diverged from initial expectations.
Strategic Marketing and Future Growth
The company’s focus on sports programming as a primary marketing channel marks a departure from traditional pharmaceutical advertising patterns. By prioritizing high-engagement media slots, management aims to maximize the efficacy of its marketing spend as it transitions from a three-product company to a five-product organization.
Beyond these marketing efforts, the company is positioning itself for growth through the development of long-acting injectables. These delivery mechanisms are used in psychiatry to improve patient adherence, which is a challenge in the treatment of chronic mental health conditions.
