Star Bulk Carriers has completed a €107.8 million public offering and parallel listing on the Euronext Athens exchange, drawing demand from over 7,500 investors. The capital raise resulted in €100.4 million in net proceeds after accounting for €7.4 million in expenses, expanding the firm’s investor base within the Greek capital market.

The offering saw total demand reach approximately €656.3 million, oversubscribing the available shares by more than six times. The transaction was facilitated by AXIA Ventures Group and Alpha Bank.

"We are particularly proud to have supported Star Bulk in this transaction and grateful to the company and its management team for the trust they placed in AXIA and Alpha Bank to lead such an important step in its journey," said Alexandros Argyros, Managing Director and Co-head of the Investment Banking Division at AXIA Ventures Group.

Allocation of Proceeds

Star Bulk has earmarked the net proceeds to support its fleet operations and growth strategy. According to company filings, the funds are divided into two categories:

  • Vessel Construction: €57.0 million is allocated to fund three vessels currently under construction.
  • Fleet Expansion: Up to €43.4 million is designated for the acquisition of additional newbuild or second-hand vessels.

Market Performance

Following the completion of the listing, Star Bulk (SBLK) shares showed positive momentum. As of September 18, 2026, the stock was trading at $32.39, representing a 2.02% increase.

What This Means for Global Shipping

The parallel listing on Euronext Athens provides the dry bulk shipping company with increased liquidity and visibility among European investors. By tapping into local Greek markets, a global hub for ship ownership, Star Bulk aligns its capital structure with the regional maritime industry. This may provide a template for other international shipping firms seeking dual-listing opportunities to diversify their shareholder base.
