Jersey Mike’s reported a 2.3% increase in same-store sales for the fiscal second quarter ended June 28, driven primarily by transaction growth alongside a 10% expansion in overall revenue. The results reflect steady customer traffic across the sandwich chain's expanding footprint, even as bottom-line profitability narrowed compared to the prior-year period.
"Same-store sales grew 2.3%, accelerating from the first quarter, driven by continued momentum and transaction growth," said Chief Executive Officer Charlie Morrison in a Yahoo Finance report.
Revenue and Earnings Breakdown
Financial figures from an Investing.com report show systemwide sales increased 10% to $1.210 billion, while total revenue also rose 10% to $208 million for the quarter. Adjusted EBITDA increased 7% to $114 million. However, net income for the quarter declined to $37 million, down from $59 million in the prior year.
Following the earnings release, Jersey Mike's Subs Inc (JMKE) shares traded at $22.37, marking a 7.44% increase on the day, according to Finnhub market data.
Unit Growth and Digital Expansion
The company continued expanding its physical and online presence during the quarter. Jersey Mike’s opened 83 new stores, bringing total systemwide locations to 3,378, which represents a net unit growth of 8.1% year over year.
Simultaneously, digital channels accounted for a growing share of the business. Digital sales represented 43% of systemwide sales, up from 41% in the prior year quarter.
What the Q2 Results Mean for Fast-Casual Dining
The financial figures illustrate how mid-tier restaurant chains are balancing physical footprint expansion and digital adoption against margin pressures. While unit growth and rising transaction volumes are driving top-line gains, narrowing net income highlights the ongoing cost headwinds facing the restaurant sector.
