Jefferies reiterated its Buy rating and $125.00 price target for Structure Therapeutics (NASDAQ:GPCR) after the company released positive clinical trial results for its small-molecule amylin candidate, ACCG-2671. With the stock trading at $45.55, the analyst outlook reflects confidence in the drug's potential to compete in the weight-loss market.
"The ACCG-2671 data met the firm's bull case expectations, including pharmacokinetics, safety, gastrointestinal tolerability, and weight loss outcomes," said Roger Song, an analyst at Jefferies, in a research note.
Clinical Roadmap for ACCG-2671
The assessment follows early-stage data suggesting the candidate could address limitations found in existing obesity treatments. Structure Therapeutics is preparing for a Phase 2a 12-week study to evaluate the efficacy and safety profile of the molecule.
According to the company's clinical roadmap, the upcoming trial will test both once-daily and once-weekly dosing regimens. Investors are waiting for the first half of 2027, when the company expects to report results from this 12-week study.
Challenges in the Obesity Market
While the market for GLP-1 and amylin-based therapies has expanded, tolerability remains a hurdle for developers. Amylin analogs, which mimic a hormone co-secreted with insulin to regulate appetite, are being pursued as weight-loss solutions that may offer improved side-effect profiles compared to current market leaders.
Analysts maintain a watch on common adverse events. H.C. Wainwright analyst Ananda Ghosh noted that while tolerability is a differentiator for the company’s other pipeline asset, aleniglipron, "nausea and vomiting remain typical side effects" across the broader class of metabolic drugs.
What Is at Stake
For Structure Therapeutics, the success of ACCG-2671 is central to its valuation as it attempts to differentiate itself in the market for metabolic disease treatments. The company’s ability to demonstrate that its small-molecule approach can provide weight loss comparable to injectable biologics, while maintaining a favorable safety profile, will be the primary factor for analysts assessing the stock's growth potential through the 2027 clinical milestones.
