ibex shares fell 2.0% following the company's fiscal fourth-quarter earnings report. Record revenue growth was offset by margin compression and conservative guidance for 2027. While the company saw demand for its AI-integrated customer service offerings, investors reacted to the rising costs associated with transitioning to an AI-first service model.
"We are a leading provider of AI agents," said Bob Dechant, CEO of ibex, in a statement regarding the company's strategic pivot in an industry traditionally threatened by automation.
Revenue Growth and Margin Contraction
ibex reported record revenue of $164.3 million for the fourth quarter, representing 12% year-over-year organic growth. For the full fiscal year 2026, the company posted total revenue of $644.1 million, a 15% increase over the previous year. Despite these gains, the company's financial results showed adjusted EBITDA margins contracting to 12.3% in the fourth quarter, down from 13.9% in the same period last year. Management attributed this decline to elevated training costs, expenses related to offshore transitions, and one-time operational outlays.
Scaling AI Deployments
The company is focused on a rapid rollout of AI-enabled customer service agents. To date, ibex has deployed these agents across more than 10 implementations spanning five vertical markets. The company notes that its current deployment timeline for these projects is between four and six weeks.
"We are structurally built so that our growth vectors, including offshore regions, digital services, and strategic verticals, represent our highest-margin opportunities," said Taylor Greenwald, CFO of ibex.
What Is at Stake for ibex
The market focus on margin compression highlights the tension between the capital-intensive nature of adopting new AI technologies and the efficiency gains promised by automation. As ibex balances its investment in AI infrastructure with the need to maintain profitability, its ability to scale these deployments while stabilizing margins remains a key metric for stakeholders. The company conservative guidance for fiscal 2027 suggests that leadership expects these integration and transition costs to persist as the firm scales its AI agent portfolio.
