Frontier Developments Jumps 8.66% on Record FY26 Profit

Frontier Developments shares surged 8.66% in pre-market trading, rising to $484.61 from a previous close of $446, following fiscal 2026 results that featured record adjusted operating profit and the company's first-ever special dividend.

"Increasingly becoming a business that is driven by long-term franchise economics," said Chief Executive Jo, during the earnings call, adding, "The greatest value in our business comes from creating games and franchises that players engage with for many years, rather than solely at launch."

Revenue and Profitability Metrics

For the fiscal year, Frontier Developments reported revenue of GBP 104.8 million, marking its second-highest revenue level on record. Alongside the top-line figures, adjusted operating profit reached a company record of GBP 21.4 million, translating to an operating margin of 20.4%.

The financial performance reflects a shift toward creative management simulation titles. Creative management simulation revenue expanded 34% year-on-year, growing to account for 89% of total revenue compared to 77% in the previous fiscal period.

Capital Returns and Shareholder Payouts

Capitalizing on the record profitability, the Frontier Developments board declared a GBP 5 million special dividend. This payout represents the first special dividend in the company's history.

The special dividend complements an ongoing share buyback program. The company has invested GBP 15.5 million in share repurchases since June 1, 2026, returning additional capital to shareholders as management focuses on long-term cash generation and portfolio stability.
