Cognition develops autonomous software-engineering agents anchored by its flagship product, Devin. The system is designed to handle complex engineering workflows by planning, writing, testing, and deploying code without constant human intervention.

The platform includes specialized capabilities such as Auto-Triage for managing bug reports, Security Swarm for vulnerability detection, and automated execution environments called Automations. These tools reduce manual overhead in enterprise software development lifecycles.

Large corporate buyers have integrated the startup's coding agents into their internal tech stacks. Notable enterprise customers utilizing Devin include Nvidia, GE Aerospace, Citi, Mercedes-Benz, and Modal.
