Chase introduced an "Invest Your Points" redemption option on September 16, 2026, allowing Chase Ultimate Rewards cardholders to convert accumulated credit card rewards into cash for J.P. Morgan investment accounts at a valuation of 1 cent per point.
"Cardmembers already have a lot of ways to use Ultimate Rewards, from travel to cash back, and every new option makes the program even more valuable," said Chris Reagan, Chase's president of branded cards, in a statement regarding the rollout.
Account Eligibility and Redemption Rules
The new redemption channel targets clients who want to channel everyday spending directly into portfolios. Eligible destination accounts include standard general investment accounts, Uniform Transfers to Minors Act (UTMA) accounts, and trust accounts, according to an AwardWallet report.
Tax-advantaged retirement vehicles are excluded from the offering. Traditional and Roth IRA accounts cannot receive funds via the "Invest Your Points" feature, limiting the integration to taxable brokerage relationships.
"Our goal is to make investing more accessible, more intuitive and more connected to the way clients already handle their finances," said Paul Vienick, head of online investing at J.P. Morgan Wealth Management.
Restrictions on Account Opening Bonuses
While the program facilitates transfers into brokerage accounts, Chase has established strict guardrails regarding promotional incentives. Because the institution does not classify Ultimate Rewards points as new money inflows, customers cannot use points converted through this feature to qualify for separate, limited-time account opening cash bonuses that offer up to $1,000.
What Is at Stake for Wealth Management
The integration bridges everyday credit card spending with retail brokerage assets, allowing major card issuers to capture a larger share of customer wallet space. By tying reward ecosystems directly into trading platforms, financial institutions aim to retain cardholders within proprietary wealth management channels rather than seeing rewards redeemed elsewhere.
