BillionToOne reported a 64% year-over-year revenue increase in the second quarter. The company is balancing oncology expansion with its prenatal operations while managing the logistical requirements of integrating testing services into large-scale health systems.
Oncology revenue accelerated by 176% compared to the prior year. This growth complements the prenatal business, which serves as a source of profitability.
"Our prenatal business is 30-plus percent operating margin. It is a very profitable business because of the way that we approach that market, where we initially declined contracts that would be at very low rates," said Oguzhan Atay, Chief Executive Officer, BillionToOne, in a statement regarding the firm's financial strategy.
Operational Margin and Market Strategy
The company maintains operating margins above 30% in its prenatal division by using a selective approach to payer contracts. By declining low-rate agreements early in its market entry, BillionToOne has preserved pricing power. This allows the division to support the capital-intensive scaling required for its newer oncology product lines.
Scaling Health-System Partnerships
The company faces structural hurdles in expanding its footprint within major hospital networks. Onboarding health systems for prenatal testing is a multi-stage operation that typically requires six to 18 months to complete. These timelines are dictated by the necessity of integrating proprietary testing data into existing Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, navigating legal reviews, and establishing logistics for sample collection and analysis.
Market Performance
As of September 11, 2026, BillionToOne (BLLN) shares are trading at $99.04. The company’s valuation reflects investor focus on its ability to sustain top-line growth in oncology while managing the extended sales and implementation cycles inherent in enterprise health-system partnerships.
