Danish energy company Andel Holding A/S is reducing its shareholding in offshore wind operator Orsted AS through an accelerated overnight stock sale valued at approximately 3 billion Danish kroner ($467 million).

The transaction trims Andel's ownership interest in Orsted to about 3.4% from 5% previously, coming roughly one year after the utility backed Orsted's massive 60 billion Danish kroner capital raise to stabilize its finances.

Accelerated Placement Details

The share placement was executed via an overnight, accelerated bookbuilding process managed to clear existing block demand quickly. According to reporting from Bloomberg, institutional order books covered the entire size of the offering shortly after order-taking commenced.

Even with the trimmed equity stake, Andel will maintain its position as Orsted's third-largest shareholder. The rapid execution of the sale highlights continued institutional appetite for large-scale utility equity blocks, alongside broader macroeconomic pressures and capital expenditure challenges across the renewable energy sector.

Prior Capital Support

The divestment follows Andel's participation in Orsted's larger financial restructuring 12 months prior, when the wind farm operator sought substantial capital injections to shore up balance sheets amid shifting interest rate environments and project write-downs. By trimming its exposure back down from the 5% threshold, Andel is realizing liquidity while preserving its baseline stakeholder standing within the Danish energy firm.
